Why would he tell me this?

I'm 16 and I've been dating this guy. Its a long distance relationship so we text each other everyday. He just told me tonight that he's on house arrest. I asked why and he said gang bang. I just said lol ok. He asked if I still loved him I said yes. Why the hell would he tell me that? U think he would have lied and made something up. I'm pretty sure I know what it is. Its when a group of guys get together and take turns having sex with one girl isn't it?
